When you or someone you know needs to sell their home, there are options beyond traditional real estate. Oak Street Properties was an excellent option in our family’s case. Oak Street Properties is a home buying service.
Their process is very straightforward and legitimate. Due to our family’s dynamics, I am the representative for our family who dealt with Oak Street Properties directly. My family found them from a letter sent to the house earlier in the year offering to buy the house. I made contact with them, provided the home’s address and my contact information. We scheduled a time for them to come out and visually walk the house. Chris Ruh came to the house and took a quick walk through and took some photos. Chris was able to make us an offer on that visit. Our family spoke to a couple traditional real estate agents along with a different home buying service who has commercials on TV. When we sat down as a family to parse all our options. Oak Street Properties was the second best option. The traditional process was the best option if everything that was laid out to happen happened as planned. Our scenario did not have the time to make the updates needed to bring the house to the level to require top dollar. Our family’s scenario had a few weeks before it was going to be left empty. In the end, due to the area and the fact the house would have been left empty we chose option two. Did we leave some money on the table, sure but Oak Street was very fair with their offer. They truly bought the house as is. During our conversation with Chris he asked timeframe we were looking at for a closing date. Their process is very simple. We signed their offer letter and got it back to them. They did everything they listed on their offer. The only hiccup we had with this transaction was not caused by them, communication with the title company could have been better.
If you go through my reviews, I do not leave many five star reviews. I hold them to prefect scenarios and Oak Street Properties sure earned it. I would recommend them to anyone who asks me or finds this review. Thank you Chris and Oak Street Properties! There are many scams out there who prey on the vulnerable. I am glad I found a reputable service who bought our family’s home!
“…everything went extremely smoothly”
I live out of state, and had decided around the first of April that it was time for me to sell my house in Arizona. I had notified my renter, thinking that it would take her some time to find a new place. It took exactly one day and she informed me that she would be out by May 1. I received a postcard in the mail from [Oak Street Properties] on April 16 , thought, “what the heck?”, and called them. We had a very genial conversation and they made arrangements with my tenant to look at the house that very evening. The next morning [Oak Street Properties] called me and told me they would like to make the purchase. We discussed the timing of closing; they were very concerned that we not pressure my tenant in case she needed a few extra days to get moved. I had documents that morning via Docusign, I signed and returned them and the process was begun. There were a very few emails between myself and the title company, but everything went extremely smoothly. A notary came to my house even during this coronavirus crisis, papers were signed, and it was a done deal. I have had many real estate transactions in my lifetime, and this was definitely the easiest. Thank you, Oak Street Properties.
